The Pope hasn't watched TV for 25 years after a promise to the Virgin Mary
He says TV isn’t for him, but he still keeps up with the football.
POPE FRANCIS HAS said that he hasn’t watched television in 25 years and needs to ask his Swiss guards for the football results.
In an interview with Argentinian magazine La Voz Del Pueblo, the Pope says he last watched television on 15 July 1990, promising the Virgin Mary he would never do so again.
Asked, was this for any particular reason, he responded:
No, no, I said this “is not for me.”
The interviewer, obviously taken aback by the Pope’s revelations, did what any self-respecting Argentinian would do and asked about football.
“Do not see San Lorenzo matches?,” they asked about the Pope’s beloved Buenos Aires-based team.
“I see nothing,” the Pontiff responded.
“How do you find out the results?”
“There is a Swiss guard who lets me know the results every week, and the table.”
The Pope also revealed he only reads one newspaper, the left-leaning Italian daily La Repubblica.
“I do it in the morning and not take me more than 10 minutes, I leaf through.”
Pizza
Francis was also asked about what misses about his life before being Pope?
“Going outside. That much I long for the tranquility of walking through the streets. Or going to a pizzeria to eat a good pizza.”
But what about a delivery to the Vatican?
“Yes, but it is not the same, the idea is to go there.”
“As Cardinal I loved walking down the street, going by bus or subway.”
What about his sleeping habits?
“I have such a deep sleep.”
“I sleep six hours. Normally at nine I’m in bed and read until nearly ten o’clock, when I begin to tear an eye and turn off the light there was until four when I wake up alone, it is the biological clock. ”
