Prisoner seriously injured and hospitalised after stabbing at Mountjoy

The man received serious stab wounds and cuts to the face.

A PRISONER WAS taken to hospital after being beaten with an iron bar and stabbed multiple times in Mountjoy prison yesterday.

It’s understood that the man was attacked in the medical unit and received cuts to the face and serious stab wounds after being beaten with an iron bar and stabbed with a pen.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment immediately after the attack, at around 4.30pm.

A spokesperson for the Irish Prison Service (IPS) told TheJournal.ie that it’s investigating a stabbing incident.
