How is Enda getting on with his end of the Programme for Government?

Pretty well, if he does say so himself.

JUST ONE ISSUE in the Programme for Government under the Taoiseach’s remit has not at least been started.

That is according to Enda Kenny himself, who told Fianna Fáil’s Séan O Fearghail that just the issue of legislating on the issue of cabinet confidentiality remained on his “to-do list”.

That item is marked as “requiring further consideration”.

Among the items he lists as completed are the Seanad referendum, the establishment of the Constitutional Convention, reducing the number of Oireachtas committees and strengthening the role of the Ceann Comhairle.

A number of the Taoiseach’s objectives are listed as “in progress”. These include increasing the number of Dáil sitting days, pursuing Seanad reform, implementing the Good Friday agreement and requiring state body CEOs to appear before committees on a regular basis.

Kenny said that the next progress report would be published in March.

“The Programme for Government is a 5 year plan and progress is reported on an annual basis. The next report will be published in March 2015 and will also include progress on the commitments contained in the recently published Statement of Government Priorities 2014 – 2016.”
