Here's how many people are getting the rent supplement in every county

The number of recipients in Dublin makes up over a third of the overall number of people using the scheme.

ALMOST 64,000 PEOPLE across the country are currently receiving the rent supplement.

Dublin has the highest number of people receiving the supplement (24,333), which makes up over a third of the overall number of people using the scheme.

The next in line is Cork with 7,140 recipients.

Monaghan has the lowest number of rent supplement recipients (284), followed by Leitrim (338) and Cavan (389).

The scheme cost €298 million this year. The Minister of State for the Department of Social Protection, Deputy Kevin Humphreys, said:

“The provision for 2015 represents a transfer of funding in excess of €20 million to the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government to support the Housing Assistance Payment.”
