The Morning After: Australia remembers heroes of Sydney siege

Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson were killed yesterday.

AUSTRALIAN FLAGS ARE at half mast today following yesterday’s tragic events where a hostage-taker held over 30 hostages captive in a cafe in Sydney.

Two victims, as well as the gunman, were killed when the police stormed the cafe after the seige had gone on for over 16 hours.

It is not yet known whether the victims Tori Johnson, the 34-year-old manager of the Lindt chocolate cafe and 38-year-old barrister and mother-of-three Katrina Dawson, were killed by the gunman, Man Haron Monis, or in the cross-fire.

Prayer and memorial services have been held to pay tribute to those that died.
