The Taoiseach wished McCabe well before going back to his canvass.

YOU MEET ALL sorts while out canvassing.

Today, Enda Kenny was canvassing for Fine Gael candidate Gabrielle McFadden in the Longford-Westmeath by-election, when he met Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.

Kenny crossed the street to shake hands with McCabe, whose testimony in the Guerin Report led to the resignation of Alan Shatter as Justice Minister.

The Garda Sergeant was on duty in the town.
