GARDAÍ IN TRIM are questioning three men in connection with an armed robbery at a jewellery store in the Co Meath town this afternoon.
Three men entered the store at around 4:50pm, and left with a quantity of jewellery after assaulting the owner, a man aged in his 70s.
Gardai responding to the robbery arrested one of the men outside the shop. He is being detained at Trim Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939.
The other two men were arrested a short time later with the assistance of the Regional Support Unit and the Garda Air Support Unit. Those two men are being held at Kells Garda Station under the same legislation.
A firearm – which, subject to technical examination, is believed to be an imitation weapon – was also recovered.
The owner was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
