Body of 18-year-old found in Wexford quarry

The teenager, along with two other boys got into difficulties while swimming at Forth Mountain yesterday evening.

THE BODY OF an 18-year-old man has been found in a Wexford quarry following a search which got underway yesterday evening.

The man had been in the quarry at Forth Mountain, Barntown with two other boys, thought to be aged 13 and ten, when they got into difficulties at around 8pm.

The ten-year-old had made it to safety onto an island, and was taken from the scene in an ambulance, while the 13-year-old was airlifted from the quarry in the Waterford coast guard helicopter.

Lifeboat personnel from Wexford and Rosslare and local scuba diving teams were involved in the search until around 12.40am last night, and the search resumed this morning at 5am.

The man’s body was recovered at 6.20am
