Woman rescued by helicopter from cliff face in Howth

The woman sustained minor injuries after getting into difficulty on the cliff path at Howth Head this morning.

A WOMAN HAS been rescued from the cliff face at Howth in north Dublin by members of the local Coast Guard.

Howth Coast Guard said it was contacted shortly before 10am this morning by a woman who had got into difficulty while decending the cliff path to the shoreline near Broad Strand at Howth Head.

The woman was found 20 feet down a steep embankment surrounded by thick briars and undergrowth when members of the Gardaí and the Coast Guard arrived on the scene.

A full rescue climb was undertaken to rescue the woman who was not suffering from any serious injury when she was located.

The woman was extracted from her difficulties by a Rescue 116 Coast Guard helicopter and flown to the nearby Bailey lighthouse helipad where she was transported to the local hospital.
