DART SERVICES HAVE been suspended between Howth and Howth Junction this morning. Irish Rail says that a level crossing fault has caused the suspension of services. Dublin Bus are honouring rail tickets, the railway operator says.

GARDAÍ SAY that the death of a man whose body was found when his car was recovered from Howth Harbour today is a “tragic incident” and is not being treated as suspicious. The pier has been closed off to the public to facilitate the recovery operation. Gardaí, the Coast Guard, Howth RNLI and Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics attended the scene after the alarm was raised at 10.30am today.

THE HOWTH COAST Guard Unit has been called out to investigate a report of a person gone into the water at Portmarnock Beach this evening.
A man was reportedly seen walking into the water at about 7pm today.
The witness saw the male walk into the sea and disappear, according to the Howth Coast Guard.
Coast Guard boats and a rescue helicopter have been deployed in the area. Members of the Gardaí are also at the scene. The Howth RNLI all-weather lifeboat was deployed and the RNLI branch provided on-scene co-ordination of the search area.
Another person at the site told TheJournal.ie that a number of people are out searching the area.

Poll: Do you allow smoking in your home?
A NEW STUDY has claimed that the number of deaths caused by smoking in the home could be comparable to the number of road deaths recorded in Ireland.
According to the NUI Galway-led research, the concentration of particulate pollution in the homes of smokers (who smoke indoors) is six-times higher than the World Health Organisation’s recommendation for general outdoor air quality, 10 times the allowable level for healthy breathing in homes and up to 17 times greater than levels actually found outdoors.
Smoking at home causes greater levels of air pollutants than using solid fuels such as coal, wood, peat and gas, says Dr Marie Coggins.
Since the introduction of the smoking ban in Ireland, many people have found it easier to stop people smoking in their own homes. So, in today’s poll we ask: Do you allow smoking in your home?
