There has been no reaction from Israeli or Iranian officials to the overnight strikes.
Iran's official broadcaster said explosions were heard near the city of Isfahan.
US media quoted officials as saying that Washington received advance notice of the strike, but did not endorse the operation or play any part in its execution.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said there had been no damage to Iranian atomic sites.
