92-year-old woman ran away from nursing home to be with her 87-year-old boyfriend

Staff in the nursing home contacted police when they realised she was missing. The search has now been called off.

A POLICE SEARCH was launched for a 92-year-old woman after her walking frame was found in the car park of the nursing home she is a resident in.

However, it was soon uncovered that she had run away from the Norwegian nursing home for a romantic break with her 87-year-old boyfriend.

It’s reported that the woman had been seeing the man before she went into the nursing home and he had visited her there.

The 92-year-old made her way to Stockholm, 570km away, for a romantic break with him.

Janka Holstad, who runs Vilberg retirement home, told the local Eidsvoll newspaper:

Imagine not being able to go on a romantic holiday just because you’re past 90.

“The lady did nothing illegal, but she caused some uneasiness for us, because she never announced she was leaving.”

The couple have now spent two weeks together, but it’s understood that she intends to return to Norway over the weekend.
