American Airlines grounds all flights because of tech glitch

Systems have now been fully restored but delays and cancellations are expected.

AMERICAN AIRLINES WAS forced to ground all flights today as a result of a technical glitch to its computer systems.

The firm has said that all systems have been fully restored but delays and cancellations are expected for the remainder of the day.

Customers impacted by the fault who are already at airports can rebook on other airlines. Others who have not yet travelled to the airport can ask for a full refund.

In its latest statement, the airline said, “It is important to note we see no evidence that today’s technical outage is related to the tragic events in Boston.”

We will continue to provide more information throughout the day as we make progress in resolving this issue. We apologise to our customers and our people for this inconvenience.

The issue related to the company’s access to its reservation system.
