Anglo bid against solicitors adjourned

Bank wants its €60 million back.

ANGLO IRISH BANK’S bid to recover over €60 million from three Limerick solicitors has been adjourned by the High Court. The bank wants more than €21 million from each of Dermot O’Donovan, Michael Sherry and Aidan Frawlay, who are partners in the Limerick legal firm, Dermot G O’Donovan.

Anglo alleges that the three men gave personal guarantees for loans, which the men claim they believed would never be enforced. The men say that their co-guarantor on the loan, developer Michael Daly, told them that Anglo had given assurances to that effect. In a separate legal action, Anglo is pursuing Michael Daly for €80 million in relation to the same loans.

The case has been adjourned until early next year for a full hearing.
