PARALYMPIAN JOHN MCCARTHY’S specially-adapted car, which was stolen from his driveway in Lucan, has been found.

Gardaí confirmed that the car was recovered this morning in the Lucan area. They thanked the public for their assistance.

Yesterday McCarthy made an appeal for information about the black Audi A6 after it was stolen from his driveway in Abbeywood.

In a Facebook post, he wrote:

I am a wheelchair user so this car is adapted with hand controls to allow me to drive it. Without this car I am unable to get to work or get to training which is so important to me at the moment as I am trying to qualify for the Rio Paralympics.

Speaking on the Ray D’Arcy Show yesterday, he said the culprits would have seen a ramp at the front door of his house, and a handrail, while they were entering the premises.

“I think they knew what sort of house they were going into in the first place.

I don’t think there was any guilt involved in what they were doing, I think they just thought ‘this is a nice easy target’.
