Over 780 litres of smuggled wine seized at Dublin Port

This seizure is part of operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol in ‘the shadow economy’.

REVENUE OFFICERS SEIZED 786 litres of wine at Dublin Port yesterday after a routine check.

During ‘routine profiling’, they stopped and searched a Transit van, which had arrived from France via Holyhead.

They found red and white wines have a retail value of around €11,000 and represent an estimated potential loss in tax revenue of €5,400.

Investigations are ongoing.
