The Forty Foot swimmers: 'Our oldest is now 91... he has his cake and cigarette before he gets in'

We talk to members of the die-hard community of swimmers who come to the Dublin spot every day.

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN swimming daily at the Forty Foot near Dún Laoghaire in South Dublin for more than 250 years.

Every single day – rain, hail or shine.

Formerly a gentleman-only bathing spot, it is now open to everyone, including those die-hard swimmers who insist on taking their daily dip regardless of the season.

TheJournal.ie spoke to some of the members of this dedicated community and asked them why they keep coming back to the cold, cold water.
