Irish teenage boy (17) killed in Australia after alleged gang fight
A woman has been charged with murder.
A SEVENTEEN YEAR old Irish boy was killed in Perth, Australia, yesterday after he was run over by a car.
The young man (17), who is originally from the Sallynoggin area of south Dublin, died after being caught up in an apparent gang fight in the suburb of Canning Vale.
Local police said that there had been a fight prearranged between two boys from two separate schools. The violence involved adults as well as children and a number of young people sustained knife injuries, police said.
According to local reports, the fight ended when the car drive into a group of boys as they were waiting at a bus stop.
The Western Australian Police Force confirmed the teen died following the incident.
They said in a statement: “Homicide squad and major crash officers are now investigating the two incidents.”
Detective Sergeant Matt Lewis said a dispute between two young people had escalated.
“People obviously got angry, their blood got up and things obviously went way too far,” he told ABC radio.
