A REFERRAL HAS been made to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) following a collision this afternoon in Dublin involving a pedestrian and an official garda motorcycle. 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the road traffic collision on Ormond Quay Upper, Dublin 1, this afternoon.

The collision involved a pedestrian and an official Garda motorcycle.

The male pedestrian, aged in his 30s, was taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of motorcycle, a male Garda member, was also taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A number of road closures were put in place as a result of the collision, but they have all since been lifted.

Dublin Bus services were also diverted as a result of the road closures, but normal service has since resumed. 

A garda spokesperson confirmed that a referral has been made to GSOC because the collision involved an official Garda vehicle.
