Fourteen crew members rescued at Dingle Bay after fishing boat runs aground

Fourteen crew members aboard the French-registered trawler have been winched off.

LAST UPDATE | 14 Dec 2025

FOURTEEN CREW MEMBERS were rescued at Dingle Bay earlier today after their fishing boat ran aground.

A number of agencies responded to the incident; Valentia RNLI, the Coast Guard and Rescue helicopter R115 attended the scene.

The 14 crew members aboard the French-registered trawler were winched off and taken aboard a Coast Guard helicopter.

Turbulent weather conditions have left responders concerned about oil aboard the vessel, it is understood.

A spokesperson said the incident was reported to Valentia MRSC before 11:30am.

“[The crew members] are receiving support from the Dingle Coast Guard Unit crew and are currently undergoing medical evaluation by the National Ambulance Service,” the spokesperson added.

“Appreciation is extended to all Coast Guard units involved in the operation.”
