Met Éireann has warned of possible spot flooding, lightning damage, and difficult travelling conditions.

A STATUS YELLOW thunderstorm warning has been issued for Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo.

The counties are in for thundery downpours for a time, and Met Éireann has warned of possible spot flooding, lightning damage, and difficult travelling conditions.

The warning comes into effect at 7:45am today, and is due to expire at 11am the same day.

Nationally, the weather is expected to stay mild and wet today. Rain, showers and blustery conditions are expected for the next few days, with temperatures staying milder than average for this time of year.

Today’s forecast

Rain will clear eastwards this morning with sunny spells and scattered showers following behind. Showers will be heavy and blustery with isolated thunderstorms possible. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees are expected with moderate winds.

There’ll be outbreaks of rain and drizzle tonight in Munster and Connacht, but it will become drier later on. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees are expected.

Tomorrow will be a mild, breezy and wet day with further outbreaks of rain moving northeastwards across the country.

The rain will turn heavy at times, particularly in the west and north. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are expected.

Saturday night will be cloudy with isolated showers in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees are expected.

Sunday will be a bright and blustery day with scattered showers, becoming heavier and more persistent through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees are expected.

Sunday night will stay blustery with clear spells and scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees are expected.

Monday will start off mostly dry and bright, but outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread northeastwards through the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees are expected.

Tuesday will likely be a cloudy day with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are expected.
