Man (20s) dies after motorcycle collides with pole in Cork

The crash happened on the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barlycove at around 11am this morning.

A MOTORCYCLIST HAS died following a collision in Goleen, Co Cork.

The man, who was in his 20s, was driving the motorcycle when it collided with a pole.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of the fatal crash, which happened on the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barlycove at around 11am this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has since been removed from the scene and a post-mortem examination will take place.

The road off the R591, known locally as the Dunmanus Road/Coast Road to Barleycove, remains closed. This is to facilitate an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Any road users who were traveling in the area between 10:45am and 11:15am are asked to make contact with investigating gardaí.

Anyone with camera footage (including mobile phone or dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí say.
