LIDL HAS ISSUED a recall notice for chicken breast fillet products due to the presence of salmonella.

The batches recalled are past their use by dates, but the products are suitable for home freezing.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has advised consumers to check their freezers for the implicated products.

The affected products are:

• Free Range 100% Irish Chicken Breast Fillets 291g, with a use by date of 12 April 2026.
• 100% Irish Diced Chicken Breast Fillets 550g, with a use by date of 13 April 2026. 

Consumers are being urged not to eat the affected products, the FSAI has said.

People infected with salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between six and 72 hours.

The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can be bloody.

Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps, and the illness usually lasts from four to seven days.
