A firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape were found during the incident.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in his early 20s in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a bank at Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford this morning.

Uniformed gardaí responded to an alarm activation at the bank shortly before 10am.

Gardaí searched the perimeter of the building as they could not gain entry to the premises.

They helped a number of employees exit the building.

The man was arrested a short distance from the bank. He was taken to Wexford garda station where he is currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

During the incident gardaí recovered a firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape.
