GARDAÍ ARE URGING members of the public not to share graphic footage of an assault that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning in St Margaret’s Ballymun, Dublin. 

A man in his twenties was seriously assaulted in the course of the attack and remains in a serious condition at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. 

Highly disturbing footage of the attack that was circulated online shows a man, wearing only shorts, being kicked on the ground by a man in a tracksuit and trainers and beaten with a spade while being told to “get up”. 

The clips also show his face being stamped on viciously, and him bleeding from the head and multiple parts of his body. 

Multiple people can be seen taking part in the attack but it’s not clear how many. 

The man can be heard crying out in pain and trying to cover his head. 

A garda spokesperson urged members of the public not to further share the footage “out of respect for the injured party”. 

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400 or the Garda confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station,” a garda spokesperson further said.
