Style shake-up: 6 beautiful bar carts that'll cause a stir in any living room

Serve up striking design (oh, and cocktails too) with these eye-catching pieces.

VERSATILE AND undeniably stylish, nowadays bar carts are used for much more than prepping cocktails. Working hard as a display unit, a storage solution or a side table, a drinks trolley can really shake up an interior when added to the mix.

This week, we searched high and low for six alternative bar cart designs that will not only make hosting an absolute cinch, but will provide an interesting storage alternative for the things you want to show off.

1. Making space: Creating a nook for a bar cart in an entranceway lets you serve up drinks on arrival and ensures a warm welcome. We’re fans of how @balancedmissbailey adds some reading material, plants and vases to create an eye-catching area in the hallway.

Find a similar copper-toned cart at Arnotts.

2. Gatsby chic: Harking back to the Prohibition era, @hippetrolleys’ oval bar cart adds instant Gatsby vibes. Although it’s small enough to wheel around, if the party moves to another room, placing a rug underneath will protect the floor if you decide to keep it in one spot.

Living and Company is your go to for a lookalike slender and elegant design.

3. X marks the spot: @gillinteriors’ French style knows no bounds – and also provides some books to leaf through while the drinks are being prepared. The perfect example of how effective it can be to group items in threes, the framed picture and large potted plant that accompany this cart give the area even more purpose and style.

Find a similar criss-crossed drinks trolley at Not On The High Street.

4. Shelved: Modern industrial drink displays don’t have to take the floor, as @charlotte.oshea proves. If wall space allows, look to cage-like styles that emphasise your love of entertaining and interestingly-shaped bottles. We’re fans of the added letter board that can be personalised for specific occasions, too.

With a little DIY, this trolley from Perch & Parrow could lend itself to being wall-hung.

5. Duck and weave: Introduce some summery wicker vibes that are a step away from brass and gold. Here, @thehouseofbrookeandlou’s Charlotte bar cart would work wonders inside as well as out in the open air for your next garden party.

Find a similar ‘60s wicker look with this bamboo one from Pamono for an instant summer hit.

6. Fresh fixture: Not a cart in the conventional sense; here, @yos_studio makes the trolley a permanent fixture by letting the wheels come off and making a stationary bar. A move away from gold, too, this image introduces some freshness in the form of a white finished frame and light wood.

Find a clean and simple lacquered design, that you can move about, at Nordic Nest.
