THE LEADER OF the opposition part in the UK is to undergo an operation on his nose during the parliament’s summer recess, reportedly to improve his voice and help him win the next election.
Labour party leader Ed Miliband is to have an operation aimed at improving his much-criticised voice and help turn him into an election winner, reports the Daily Mirror in the UK.
Miliband is expected to have his adenoids- fleshy growths behind the nose – removed in the operation that will take place during the UK parliament’s summer recess and should take about a week to recover from.
His spokesman has denied the reports that the operation is aimed at improving Miliband’s much criticised voice saying that the former government minister had been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, which interrupts his breathing during sleep, reports the BBC.
The spokesman said that Miliband’s deviated septum will be corrected at the end of July, pointing out that the operation will take place with the NHS, Britain’s National Health Service which is set to undergo and radical and controversial reforms under the present Conservative-Liberal Democrat government.
Miliband, who became Labour leader after beating off a challenge from his brother David, has been the subject of much criticism about his voice.
During a phone-in on BBC Radio early this year, one caller complained about Mr Miliband’s “growling voice”, reports Sky News.
The Daily Mail reports one internet forum user as comparing Miliband to the character of Smell from the hit British film This Is England.
