Bus Éireann services to operate as normal today

A minimum of 24 hours notice will be given for any industrial action, unions officials have said.

BUS ÉIREANN HAS said that all services will operate as normal today, after 48 hours of talks which are set to continue.

Customers are advised to check www.buseireann.ie today and national and local media for latest updates on the operation of services.

Talks between management and union representatives will continue today at the Labour Relations Commission.

A Siptu spokesperson said that union members at Irish Rail and Dublin Bus may be balloted for industrial action in coming days, following calls for other transport workers to show solidarity with Bus Eireann workers, but that talks are proceeding with a view to settling the dispute.

Green thumb if you support the strike action.

    Red thumb if you don’t.

Supposedly a deal is close, a negiotiated one. Justifies the workers stance I think. It probably will envolve them taking some cut, but a negotiated one, one in which perhaps management share the pain?

The unions had actually accepted the terms laid out by the LRC already, it’s the workers who refused to accept them afterwards. I wonder why the unions accepted these conditions in the 1st place?

It very simple. Cuts need to be implemented, if not there won’t be any Bus Eireann. There won’t be anything left to strike about.

Well the Unions are businesses of course. They have to feed the workers constantly this victim mentality crap to survive. They could give a sh*t about the workers.

Yes there are a third round of cuts coming for Dublin bus and Irish rail.
2 sets of cuts so far, all on drivers and mechanics, none on management.
Round 3 is coming in a few weeks and guess what?
Drivers, mechanics and low level clerical staff are taking the cuts again, and as for management? Haha you guessed it! Not much at all

Jennifer, Im afraid your information is incorrect, Irish Rail is not being balloted today. Staff have heard nothing about any ballot and such talk only serves to heighten the fears of the travelling public for nothing.

Jesus sh1tting Christ. For the last year all I’ve seen on this website is moaning an complaining about the sh1t state Ireland is in. Everyone saying, how much more can we take? How much more will we take? And the very second someone says enough, I’m on strike, we all starting giving out about them! Everyone should get behind the strikers. They are working men and women doing what they think is right, standing up, for a f*cking change, to the shit storm that’s been throw at us for the last 5 years. But no, you want to take a bus, so that’s all that matters. This is why Ireland is a sh1thole, because at the end of the day we don’t give a flying f*ck about each other.

Most people in this country dont use public transport for a very good reason, this disruption wont encourage any of them to use it in the future, the intimidation and threats issued in Cork to a private operator in preventing him earning his living just confirms they are right.
