CAO issues thousands of 'Round Zero' offers today - here's what happens next

Round Zero offers must be accepted by 7 August at 5.15pm.

OVER 4,300 PROSPECTIVE college students have received a ‘Round Zero’ offer from the Central Applications Office (CAO) this morning.

A total of 5,357 offers have been issued to 4,363 applicants by the CAO, before Round One offers are made to Leaving Certificate students later this month.

This morning’s offers have been sent to applicants who are not competing with students awaiting their Leaving Certificate results, as well as those assessed on other criteria.

They include graduate entry medicine applicants, additional mature applicants, deferred and access applicants, and applicants presenting with QQI FET/FETAC qualifications.

This year, there were 3,484 Level 8 offers and 1,873 Level 7/6 offers issued in Round Zero.

The offers have been available to view online since 6am this morning. Applicants have until 7 August at 5.15pm to accept them.

CAO communications officer Eileen Keleghan urged all mature, deferred, and other applicants to log in to their CAO accounts today to check if they have received an offer.

“Failure to accept an offer by the reply date will result in the offer being cancelled,” she said.

To date, a total of 12,124 offers have been issued by CAO in Round A and Round Zero to a total of 9,792 applicants.

Round One offers will be issued on Thursday, 15 August. These offers will be available to view online only from 2pm on the day. Successful candidates will also receive an offer notification by email and text if they have selected this option.

There will be no postal offer notice in Rounds One and Two.

The reply date for Round One offers is 23 August at 5.15pm.

Round Two offers will be available to view online from 28 August at 10am.
