IT’S ONLY DAY two after the summer break and already our elected representatives are being very bold in the Dáil chamber.

Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett had to intervene during Leaders’ Questions this afternoon as he threatened to cut off the microphones of deputies who engage in “this shouting racket”.

Fianna Fáil’s Micheál Martin was quizzing the Tánaiste Joan Burton on water charges as that particularly controversy rumbles on.

But as he ran overtime and TDs became more boisterous the Dáil chair became very annoyed. ”You’ll either obey the rules or change the rules,” he said.
