Gardaí investigating video which appears to show child being encouraged to drink alcohol

While doing so, he is encouraged by off-camera men.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a video which appears to show a young boy being encouraged to drink alcohol.

The video emerged yesterday and has spread around various social media. It shows a pre-teen boy drinking what appears to be a glass of Guinness.

While doing so, he is encouraged by off-camera men.

The men tell him “go on, you have it” and “all the way”.

The men cheer once the child has downed the glass in one go.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed to TheJournal.ie that the video is being investigated.

“An Garda Síochána is aware of a video which has been posted to various social media in recent days. The video appears to show a child drinking alcohol.

“The National Protective Services Bureau is currently investigating the matter to establish the full facts.”

A spokesperson for Alcohol Action Ireland says that the video is a child protection issue.
