MORE THAN 200 people have gathered in western Ohio to mourn one of the victims of the deadly shooting spree in a Colorado movie theatre.
Matt McQuinn had moved to Colorado from Ohio last autumn with his girlfriend, Samantha Yowler. He saved Yowler during the shootings by diving in front of her. He was shot three times.
Among the pallbearers at his funeral Saturday in his hometown of Springfield is Yowler’s brother, Nick, who also shielded his sister during the attack. It’s not clear whether she was attending the funeral.
Also to be laid to rest Saturday is Jessica Ghawi, another victim in the July 20 massacre that left 12 dead and 58 wounded in Aurora, Colorado.
Ghawi was an aspiring journalist from San Antonio, Texas. She had also survived a shooting at a Toronto mall in June.
