Company creating 100 Irish jobs has developed heart failure drug
Amgen – which is opening a new plant in Dun Laoghaire – announced late last week that an experimental drug may help cardiac patients’ hearts to recover function.
A BIOTECHNOLOGY COMPANY which is to create 100 jobs in Ireland is currently developing a drug which may help the recovery of people with heart failure.
On Friday, it was reported that the experimental drug Amgen has been developing with Cytokinetics in cases of patients with heart failure is showing signs that it can improve heart function. FireceBiotech.com noted that larger-scale trials have now begun on the drug, a protein that helps the heart to contract, but that early signs were encouraging.
If the drug proves effective over a sustained period of time, it could be available to patients within three or four years.
Amgen is to create 100 jobs in Dun Laoghaire, reports Gavin Daly in today’s Sunday Business Post. The American firm took over the former Pfizer plant in Dun Laoghaire last March, a move which saved 280 jobs there.
