Cork teenager died after he fell 'from a moving vehicle', gardaí say

The incident occurred at Little Island in Cork at approximately 11.50pm on 17 April.

A RENEWED APPEAL has been launched for witnesses to the death of a 19-year-old man who reportedly fell from a moving vehicle in Cork on the night of 17 April.

The incident occurred at Little Island in Cork at approximately 11.50pm.

Gardaí had earlier described the deceased as pedestrian who was struck by a car but in an update today said that they had received a report that a male fell from a moving vehicle at the time.

The man was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He has been named as Conor Coleman and his funeral last week heard him described as “a gentle giant”.

His organs were donated.

Mourners at his funeral in the Church of Our Lady and St John in Carrigaline, Co Cork were told that a stadium would be required to get all of his friends in to one photograph.

The coffin of the deceased was adorned in colourful handwritten tributes and messages from his friends and loved ones.

His older brother John said that it was appropriate that his generous brother had made an “eternal impact” through the gift of organ donation.

“As a family we decided to donate his organs. His heart, lungs, liver, kidney and pancreas all received five perfect matches. Meaning as his final act on earth he was able to save five lives and leave a legacy to the end of time,” he said.

He said that his little brother would have been “blown away” by the large numbers who gathered at the church, and thanked all those who had called to their family home in recent days for their support.

Forensic Collision investigators attended the scene of the incident and an examination took place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 11:00pm and midnight on Friday 17th April 2026, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
