Police dig up garden of paedophile friends of Fred and Rose West
The Williams’ were known friends of serial killers Fred and Rosemary West.
POLICE IN THE UK are excavating the former home of a couple who were convicted of sexually abusing children.
Last year, David Williams was sentenced to life in prison and his wife, Pauline, was sentenced to 12 years after being found guilty of multiple counts of physical and sexual abuse against 10 children.
Devon and Cornwall police began excavation at the former home of the convicted paedophiles this morning.
A police spokesperson said:
Following intelligence received, Devon and Cornwall Police are undertaking excavation work at a property on Cullompton Hill, Bradninch, Cullompton, Devon.
Devon and Cornwall police confirmed the excavation is in relation to the former owners of the home.
This relates to historic intelligence connected to the address and its former occupants.
“Specialist officers will be involved in the excavation which we hope will have as little impact on the local community as possible.”
Scaffolding has been erected in the garden at the bungalow where the couple last lived before being jailed.
The police spokesperson added that the excavation “is expected to up to four days to complete”.
The Williams’ were known friends of serial killers Fred and Rose West in Gloucester in the 1980s.
Last year, David Williams told a court that he had connections with the Wests, who drank at the Prince Albert pub which he ran in Gloucester, the BBC reports.
Fred West was awaiting trial on 12 murders when he hanged himself in prison in 1995. Rose West was convicted of 10 murders in the same year and is currently serving life.
