Man (50s) dies in collision between car and truck in Cork

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A MAN IN his 50s has died following a crash between a truck and a car in Co Cork this morning. 

Gardaí said they are at the scene of the fatal collision which occurred shortly after 7am on the R630, the main Midleton and Whitegate road. 

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date.

The road remains closed as Forensic Collision Investigators are at the scene.

A garda spokesperson added that local diversions are in place.
