The German Navy is taking over Cork*

IF YOU’RE IN Cork this weekend, you probably won’t miss the fact that there are seven navy vessels with German writing on them in the port.

But, don’t worry, this is not some sort of EU annexation of the Rebel County, it is merely the German Navy stopping by for a courtesy visit.

The 300 German crew will be in the south until Monday, spending the weekend topping up supplies and, generally, taking a rest from the sea.

The crew represent a small portion of the German Navy, which has around 16,000 personnel and 81 ships.
