Man and woman to appear in court in connection with €4m heroin seizure

The 27 kilos of heroin was discovered in a truck that was searched by gardaí on the M1.

A MAN AND woman in their 40s who were arrested in connection to the discovery of 27 kilos of heroin in Drogheda are due to appear in court today.

A male aged 40 and a female aged 43 were arrested during a garda operation on the M1 near Drogheda County Louth on Thursday when the gardaí stopped and searched an articulated truck.

The heroin discovered in the vehicle is estimated to have street value of over €4 million.

The two accused are scheduled to appear at the Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4.15pm this afternoon.

A third man in his 40s, who was also arrested following the drugs discovery, remains in custody at Drogheda Garda Station.
