Dermot Kennedy pledges to donate €20,000 to Barretstown after winning radio quiz

The singer-songwriter made a surprise appearance on RTÉ 2FM Breakfast.

SINGER-SONGWRITER DERMOT Kennedy made a surprise appearance on RTÉ 2FM this morning, where he took part in a quiz in hopes of winning €10,000 to donate to charity.

Kennedy pledged to donate the winnings and contribute an additional €10,000 to Barretstown if he succeeded in the A-Z quiz on RTÉ 2 FM Breakfast with Carl, Roz and Aisling.

The quiz sees contestants attempt to answer 26 questions in 90 seconds, with each answer beginning with a consecutive letter of the alphabet.

After being announced on the programme, Kennedy said he would donate €10,000 to the charity either way, and if he lost the quiz he would “just put pressure on RTÉ”.

After winning the quiz, Kennedy said: “I feel good man. I feel good. ”

He added that he was glad he didn’t “disgrace” himself.

Barretstown is an organisation that provides residential camps and programmes for children and their families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses.
