Driving Home For Christmas singer Chris Rea collapsed on stage

It’s understood that the 66-year-old singer is now in a stable condition.

THE SINGER OF Driving Home For Christmas Chris Rea collapsed while performing on stage in England.

It happened almost 50 minutes into a concert at the New Theatre in Oxford last night.

It’s reported that the singer-songwriter suddenly clutched his microphone and fell to the ground.

The 66-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance and it’s understood that he’s now in a stable condition. It comes a year after the songwriter suffered a stroke.

According to Sky News, one audience member described the performer “falling into a clump”.

New Theatre Oxford sent a tweet after the show saying, “We massively appreciate everyone’s patience who attended the Chris Rea performance this evening.

“Please bear with the venue team whilst we seek further updates for you.

“As soon as we have more news we will of course let everyone know.”
