Should Dublin have a directly elected mayor?

It is unclear when exactly Dublin could hold an election for a directly elected mayor.

“I think concerns about who might win the election is not a good reason not to have a directly elected mayor,” James Geoghegan TD, former Lord Mayor of Dublin, told the newspaper.
