Status Yellow wind warning issued for Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow

The warning came into place at 8am and will remain in place until 2pm this afternoon.

COUNTIES DUBLIN, WEXFORD and Wicklow are currently under a Status Yellow wind warning.

The alert came into effect at 8am this morning and will remain in place until 2pm this afternoon.

Met Éireann is forecasting very strong to gusty southeast winds and warns that possible impacts will include hazardous travelling conditions, localised coastal flooding and wave overtopping.

A Status Yellow warning for rain had also been in place overnight in counties Cork and Kerry and elapsed at 8am this morning.

Elsewhere, there was a rainy and blustery start this morning in the south and west, which will gradually move northeastwards across the country.

A brief clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers will follow behind the rain before further outbreaks of rain push into the southwest later, with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.

It will be generally cloudy at first tonight, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the southwest.

The rain will then become lighter and patchier as the night goes on with clear spells developing, though more persistent rain will develop in the southwest towards morning.

Tomorrow morning, rain in the southwest will spread across Munster, south Leinster and south Connacht but it will be a dry start further north with sunny spells.

Outbreaks of rain will extend nationwide through the afternoon and it will turn breezy with the rain, with moderate to fresh east to southeast winds occasionally increasing strong.

It will then remain unsettled for the rest of the week with frequent spells of rain.

There’s a cloudy and damp night in store on Wednesday, with widespread outbreaks of rain and some isolated heavy downpours possible.

Thursday is also due to be another generally cloudy day, with scattered outbreaks of rain though some sunny spells are possible in the southwest, with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Going into Thursday night, most areas will remain cloudy with continued rain and drizzle.

However, some dry and clear spells are possible in the south and midlands, with lowest temperatures generally of 2 to 6 degrees, but falling to between -1 and +1 degrees under any clear spells.

And Friday is set to be a dull, damp and quite breezy day, with further rain and drizzle spreading from the south.
