A TEENAGER IN his late teens has died after falling from an e-scooter in Carlow town yesterday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports that two teens had fallen from an e-scooter while travelling on Carpenters Way in Carlow town shortly after 8.30pm. 

One of the boys, in his late teens, sustained serious injuries and was transported to St Luke’s Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second teenager was medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.

Forensic examinations of the scene are underway. The road is currently closed, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have asked that anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) from Carpenters Way around the time of the incident make this available.

Meanwhile, two boys in their early teens also fell from an e-scooter in a separate incident in Dublin last night.

Shortly before 9pm on Monday, gardaí and emergency services attended Strand Road, Portmarnock, following reports that two youths in their early teens had fallen from an e-scooter.

Both were transported to CHI Temple Street for medical treatment.

One of the boys sustained serious injuries, while the other is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Strand Road area around the time of the incident are asked to contact gardaí.
