Poll: Should Ireland take a break from the Eurovision?

Gripes about block voting aside, it’s clear that the country is long past its heyday.

THERE WAS DISAPPOINTMENT again for Ireland last night as the country failed to make it to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Galway-born Brendan Murray’s Dying To Try failed to resonate with the other countries, making this the fourth year in a row that Ireland have failed to qualify for the Eurovision finals.

Ireland has the most Eurovision wins out of any country but we haven’t won the contest since 1996, when Eimear Quinn stormed home with The Voice.

Gripes about block voting aside, it’s clear that the country is long past its heyday. But what can we do?

Should there be an overhaul of how we select singers? Should we send Dustin again? Or should we take a few years off to reflect on the country’s position?

Today we’re asking: Should Ireland take a break from the Eurovision?

Poll Results:

Yes - let's take some time off from the contest (10485)
Don't know/care (3960)
No - Let's keep entering every year (3953)
No - Let's just send Dustin again (2367)
