Woman killed and 8-year-old girl injured in Kerry crash

The 47-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash this afternoon.

A WOMAN HAS died and an 8-year-old child has been injured in a car crash in Kerry.

The crash involving a single vehicle happened on the road between Killorglin and Killarney at approximately 12:20pm today.

The woman (47) was pronounced dead at the scene. The 8-year-old girl who was the only passenger in the car has been brought to Kerry General Hospital to be treated. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí in Killarney have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who travelled on the N72 road between 12 noon and 1pm today to contact them on 064 667 1160 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
