Five units of fire brigade at blaze in shopping centre car park

The underground car park at the Beacon shopping centre in Sandyford has been evacuated but the stores above remain open at the moment.

DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE is attending a fire at an underground car park at the Beacon Shopping Centre in Sandyford, Dublin.

It is understood that at least one car is involved in the fire and there is a large amount of smoke coming from the building. One witness said the smoke is visible all the way to the M50.

The car park has been evacuated but the stores above remain open. A source said fires in underground car parks are “generally malicious” though the cause of this blaze has yet to be identified.

No injuries have been reported.
