FOUR DUBLIN COUNCILLORS, one serving and three former, have appeared in Dublin District Court today on corruption charges.

Tony Fox, Colm McGrath, Sean Gilbride, and Don Lydon pleaded not guilty to charges of corruption, according to the Irish Times.

All four are former Fianna Fáil councillors, according to RTÉ.

Fox, currently serving as an Independent councillor on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown council, faces five charges relating to payments allegedly made in in 1992 and 1997.

Gilbride is charged with receiving a corrupt payment at Frank Dunlop’s office in 1992 in return for voting to rezone land at Carrickmines, Co Dublin.

McGrath and Lydon face similar charges, RTÉ reports.

No objection was made to bail for any of the four, who are accused of receiving money in relation to land rezoning. They have all signed bail bonds and have left the court, RTÉ Six One News reports.

They are due to appear in court again next Thursday.
