Pedestrian (80s) killed after being struck by bus in Galway last night

The woman’s body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will be arranged.

A WOMAN AGED in her 80s has died after she was struck by a bus in Galway city last night.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the Dublin Road, Wellpark, Galway City yesterday at approximately 8.45pm.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision involving a bus.

Her body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will be arranged.

There were no other injuries reported.

Specialist Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has since been reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and were travelling in the area between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday 15th September 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
