Gardaí appeal for witnesses to aggravated burglary in Galway

The culprit is believed to have been carrying a hand gun.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to an aggravated burglary at a shop in Indreabhán, Co Galway, last night to contact them.

The burglary occurred at approximately 11.30pm on Monday, when a man approached a shop worker who was getting into his own car (a black Toyota Starlet 94 D registration) at the car park of the Poitin Still pub.

The shop worker was then forced to drive to Siopa An Phobail in Indreabhán. It is believed that the assailant had a hand gun.

After arriving at the location, the assistant was forced to open the shop. The culprit then escaped with an undisclosed amount of money in the vehicle, which was later found abandoned in Bohoona, An Spidéal.

The shop worker was not injured during the incident.

The burglar has been described as 5′ 11″ in height, of stocky build, wearing a black balaclava and black clothes.

Gardaí have asked anyone who may have noticed anything unusual or suspicious around the car park at the Poitin Still, at Siopa An Phobail or the movements of the Black Toyota Starlet around the time of the incident to contact Salthill Garda Station on 091- 514720, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
