Investigations are upgraded after a post-mortem carried out on the body of a 58-year-old man who died yesterday.

GARDAÍ ARE NOW treating the death of a man in Co Kerry following a fire in his home in the early hours of yesterday morning as suspicious.

The 58-year-old was found in a house at Ardaw, Beaufort, Killorglin after the alarm was raised at 2am on Thursday morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kerry General Hospital.

Gardaí this evening confirmed, however, that following the outcome of a post mortem on the man’s body, the death is now being treated as suspicious.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or unusual around the townland of Ardaw between 11pm on Wednesday evening and 2am on Thursday morning to contact them.
